UNIPORT UPDATE:

Haven suspended our actions to enable the committee set up to investigate the Uniport Crisis come up with their findings, appropriate sanctions and way forward, it is pertinent we address the following:

1) Non Inclusion of Student Representatives in the Investigative Panel:
We have formally registered our displeasure on the non inclusion of a Student Representatives in the committee set up to investigate an issue that the students remain a critical stakeholder. Drawing the attention of the Governing Council to the recommendation of Emmanuel Abisoye panel on Campus Crisis Investigative Panel; that there must be student Representatives in any such committee and it is on this note that the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) ZONE B states emphatically that we may reject the outcome of the committee for failure to include Students representatives.

2) "No School Fee; NO EXAMINATION" policy and Reopening of School Fee Portal: We want to bring it to the attention of the University management that we have gone past the stage of mere reopening of portal for a specified period as our stand on the "No School Fee; NO EXAMINATION" policy remained unchanged. Total abolishment of the policy is where we stand and there is no going back on this. We therefore rejects the opening of the portal for two weeks by the University management and Demand for other alternative instead of insisting on the obnoxious policy that has led to the lost of the life of our dear Comrade Peter Ofurum.

3) Writing Examination from outside:
It is unheard of that after paying for hostel accommodation fee, the highest by a Federal University, the management could still contemplate of asking Students not to have access to their hostel during the exam. We reject this policy. What ever the reasons the University management have, it is a pointer to ulterior motive and we wouldn't allow this to happen.

4) Signing of Good Conduct Form: Also in a recent circular by the University management, students have been asked on resumption of academic activities to sign a form of Good Conduct;
Originally our students are not tout and as such, there is no basis for signing for good conduct. This no doubt, has indicated that the management is nursing negative intention against our fellow students and our members will not sign any form until the management comes clean with what their plans are.

5) We are equally aware of one of the terms of reference to the Investigative PANEL, "to evaluate d rate of damage and recommend appropriate charge. We want to reiterate at this point, that non of our member (Students) will be surcharge for damage of school properties as the management were the actual culprits in the destruction of the properties.
In my exact words to the Vice Chancellor, "If you ask our Students to pay for damages, We will ask you to produce our beloved Comrade Peter Ofurum alive".

It is very unfortunate that the University management led by the Vice Chancellor; Prof. Lale Ndowa has continued to swim from one blunder to another, an indication of failure in governance.
At this Junction, it is pertinent we alert the general public, that our stand on this issue remains unchanged as we are committed as a people and as an organization to deliver justice in the killing of Comrade Peter Ofurum.

To all Stakeholders, Union officials, Faculty Presidents, all Uniport critical stakeholders and comrades, let's continue to be United in this struggle as victory is certain.

Amangla Awetu... Nothing Shall Discourage US...!!!
