Description

* The principal purpose of the position is to carry out the critical function of Quality Assurance (QA).  The objectives are to ensure that the business and functional units in the bank are operating in line with all relevant policies and regulations; have effective controls in place to mitigate the risks associated with their activities; and are employing efficient processes and procedures in the discharge of their responsibilities.

* The position will ensure complete and timely implementation of corrective action for control issues identified in the course of QA reviews, Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) process, Peer reviews and Audit and Risk Reviews.   

* Conduct of Quality Assurance review of such departments, products and processes as may be assigned by the Head of Quality assurance in line with the Audit plan and as may be necessary in the light of developments.

* Re-performance of  previous Risk and Control Self Assessment (RCSA) tests, as an integral part of the QA review process,  with a view to ascertaining the rigorous nature of those tests and revalidating the outcome.

* Ensure that all exceptions noted during Quality Assurance reviews and inspections are promptly addressed with corrective action plans and that compensating controls to guard against recurrence are established.

* Carry-out independent verification of the implementation of corrective action, by any function or business, on all outstanding control issues emanating from the Quarterly RCSA process, Peer reviews, Audit and Risk Review and Regulatory reviews.

* With regard to Operational risk, ensure tracking of Key Risk Indicators (KRI) by all entities in the bank and reporting of same, including breaches and corresponding corrective action to QA.

* Act as Back-up for the incumbent in the consolidation of the RCSA results for the country and preparation of materials for the local BRCC meetings.

* Provide effective support to the Head of Quality Assurance during regulatory audit and examinations, including spot checks.

Specifications / Qualifications
* The candidate should preferably be a graduate in Accounting, Economics or any other management Studies.

* The candidate must have at least 4 years experience in a relevant job preferably in a banking environment or an Accounting firm.

* An accounting/internal audit professional qualification is required.

* A postgraduate degree (e.g. M.Sc, MBA) will be an advantage.
