Pastors in Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) have received a marching order from general overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, to increase the size of their congregations by one hundred percent before August or be sacked.

Adeboye handed down this order last Saturday during the ministers’ conference shortly after the monthly vigil of the church at the Redemption Camp on KM 46 Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The church has a tradition of transferring and promoting pastors nationwide in August when it celebrates its anniversary.

It is believed that the order by Adeboye is part of a much-expected shake-up in the church’s hierarchy nationwide.

The general overseer said pastors within the church must be ready to double their efforts in soul-winning to expand the Kingdom of God.

Crowd is not a measure of soul winning. Jesus had just 12 disciples, the many crowds who followed him left and he would not even entrust himself unto the crowd.

It is unfortunate that Pastor Adeboye is asking his pastors the impossible. It is easy to fill an auditorium by doing research on what people want in church but when it comes to winning souls into the Kingdom it is the work of the Holy Spirit and you cannot measure that by the crowd attending your sermon.
