Europe’s Third Largest Church Deciding Whether to Punish Pastor for Affairs A pastor and founder of one of the largest Protestant churches in Europe has been asked to step down from his role after church leadership discovered his multiple affairs. Sunday Adelaja, the pastor who leads the Embassy of the Blessed Kingdom of God for All Nations in the Ukranian capital of Kiev, admitted to affairs with some of his parishioners. The parishioners also confessed the affairs to other pastors, according to the Council of Bishops of Christian Evangelical Churches of Ukraine. “Pastor Sunday has always shared with the world that he is in a position to help minister to the world only because he himself has had his own share of trials including sexual trials, problems and victories,” the church elders said in a statement. Then in April, Adelaja himself confessed to more than 200 pastors at a meeting. He was removed from preaching and other leadership duties. The Spiritual Board of the Russian Union of Christians of Evangelical Faith said they worried that those close to him had covered up Adelaja’s affairs, but that he would enter a “season of recovery.” Still, Adelaja’s Facebook, blog and website are still active, according to ChristianityToday.com. In the wake of the news, a bishop with the church, Anatoly Belonozhko, announced he would be leaving the church.
