Hello Nairalanders. Here is a quick question one of my clients asked and I need your honest answers if you may:

Can someone start a local weekly magazine business and still be profitable in this era of internet and blogs?

By local, I'm referring to covering stories within a certain locality/community; stories that major magazines won't tell probably because such won't be of interest to people outside the localities.

Print media is a shrinking business. If you add the effect of the economic crises, then you will see that investment in print media is an exercise in failure. However, if you can secure top advertisers willing to pay for adverts for up to a year, then your magazine may be able to survive.
