REVELATION 3:1
“To the angel of the church in Sardis write:

These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.

The city of Sardis is the place where money was first minted. A port city where commercial activity was intense. The church in that city was for the powerful and mighty. A church where the needy and poor felt out of place. The real purpose for which the church was established was neglected. Power show became the order of the day. The Spirit of God called the church - "DEAD CHURCH"

The village of Nazareth where Christ grew up is said to have a population of approximately 400 people. This means everyone knew each other. One can also conclude that this scenario allowed Christ to observe people more closely.

“By their fruits you shall know them.” – (Matthew 7:16)

In Nigeria, churches are springing up left, right and centre. People love going to church. They enjoy the outward show of worshipping God. But the fruits that are produced in the society in terms of morality, righteousness and godly living (fruits of the spirit) tells a different story entirely.

The society appears to be spiritually alive – has “a reputation of being alive” – looks spiritually vibrant on the outside – but in reality is spiritually lifeless. But we thank God that there is still a remnant within the body of Christ. We are the rock on which the gates of Hell cannot prevail.

Galatians 5:19-21
Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these……”

May God never find us spiritually dead in Jesus name – Amen

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Brethren, if you let the fruits of the spirit grow in you, Satan the accuser shall have no power over you.

IT IS WELL. GOD BLESS wink
