One bad thing about solar systems is that batteries hardly last long and cannot be salvaged in anyway when they go bad.. sad undecided

Batteries just don't die , they are been murdered.
Maintenance culture of batteries by some clients contributes to the reason why batteries don't last long .

Charge your batteries fully immediately after discharged.

Avoid using external battery charger with very high current just to achieve quicker charging time, if you are to use external chargers , go for smart chargers.

Design your solar system to operate at 30 to 50% DOD.

When buying batteries try as much as possible to buy freshly manufactured batteries, the fresher the better.

If you buy cheap batteries made from low quality lead also expect a lower design life .

Correct. Never allow voltage of your 12v battery to get as low as 10.5 volts (then it's fully discharged)

To enjoy long life from the battery it should never go below 11 volts

For 24v system not below 21.5v

For 48v system not below 43v

I stay in a one room apartment with 10lighting points, a 32inch led TV (planning to upgrade to 55inch) a ps3 super slim (getting a ps4 slim soon) 2 fans, dstv decoder and a home theatre. Will the icellpower 1.5kva 12v be sufficient enough? I know I won't put the things on at the same time. Need a candid advice
emytech:

The icellPower inverter is just right, the perfect solution for alternative energy, the fan is temperature activated, it respond to the unit temperature, observe it to be more operational when the unit is charging the batteries on Grid power.

I got a solar set up from an online mall. It contains an all-in-one 1000 watts 12volts/220volts inverter (has in-built solar charge controller, but no AC input), a solar panel, 100amp deep cycle battery and a 12 volt 10amps 240 volts AC intelligent battery charger. I have the all set up excluding the 240 volts main 12v intelligent battery charger.

My question: Along with the set up, is any of the components safe if I connect the AC intelligent battery charger to the battery terminals directly without having it (the battery) disconnected from the inverter first?

I assume that doing this will eliminate the routine of having to disconnect the solar panel first, followed by the battery from the inverter unit each time I intent to charge the battery directly from AC. Please urgent replies will be much appreciated.

I have a 2.4 kva inverter, what will it cost me to incorporate a solar panel... Thanks
Since you already have inverter in place, the items needed are Solar panels, solar controller & installation accessories. Solar panel size is depended on your load demand plus that required to charge your battery. Will advice with precision on the cost if we know your load & battery size. Regards.

I have something similar and really enjoying the setup. You can connect the battery charger directly and simultaneously with d solar panel, nothing to worry about since its a smart charger. Just plug and unplug smart charger as needed but leave it connected to battery.

4 Bus Bar vs 3 Bus Bar solar Modules - Guide to selecting solar panels

As a solar installer you may have come across 4BB/ 3BB/ 2BB on solar panel data sheets. 4BB implies it is a module with 4 Bus Bars. 4 bus bar cells are the latest technology in the market and they have several benefits over 3 bus bar or 2 bus bar modules. So what does this exactly mean for the generation of your solar plant?

1. Higher Output per cell = Higher Efficiency

As the distance between adjacent bus bars is shorter in 4BB modules, the current path is shorter leading to higher output. Price wise this may not make a difference as solar panels are sold in the market on a Wp label at a Rs/ Wp price. i.e. you may have 3BB or 4BB modules with an identical power rating of let’s say 310 Wp. For very large solar plants where area covered is important, even small gains in module efficiency make a difference as 4BB modules are able to pack a higher Wp in the same area.

2. Lower Residual Stress in 4 bus bar cells= Lower Degredation

When conductors are soldered onto solar cells to assemble them into solar modules, the soldering activity leaves behind residual stress in the cells. Over time the residual stress converts into micro-cracks which ultimately reduces the generation.

Due to shorter distance between the bus bars in 4BB cells, the residual stresses are lower in 4BB modules by up to 10%. Hence long term generation of 4BB modules is expected to be superior as degradation is lower.

When you compare 3BB (bus bar) cells panels vs 4BB (bus bar) cell panels, our panels with 4 Bus Bars have 25% better connectivity with the other cells in the panel which translates into a more reliable, long lasting and higher output panel over the 25+ year life of the panel. It's like comparing a 3 lane motor way with a 4 lane motor way, you suddenly have an entire extra lane to help make that traffic flow more smoothly with less congestion and at a better more consistent flow.

Summary

So overall, we find, that 4 Bar Bar modules are an upgrade in technology. Having higher efficiency and generation over life they will result in higher generation over life of your solar plant.

Bus bar is a very simple way to differentiate solar panels.
Above pic is a 3BB and 5BB solar module.
A 5BB solar panel will be more efficient than a 3BB solar panel of same size meaning it's power output will be higher. Contact for supply of 4BB panels, 250w mono and poly, 300w mono and poly and 135w poly

Okay.
1. 3KVA APC UpS/Inverter: 30,000
2. 4 Units of used 100ah battery: 15k each (back then)
3. 8 units of used100w mono solar panels (got them 25k from a friend)
4. 48v 30A PWM solar charge controller: 15k (I imported)
5. DC breakers 2 units (1000 each)
6. Cables n Cable locks (around 10k)
7. Battery Rack: 8k

I will advise if you decide to tow my path, to replace the used batteries with new batteries. I was lucky to get used batteries in good condition, you may not be.

I turn on my system everyday from 9am and I will pump water, load my fridge, plug all pluggables (laptops, home theater, fans etc) All will run freely from 8am till 3.30pm to 4.00pm. Sometimes, fridge goes off around 2.30pm. Then I turn off my system only to turn on again by 7.00pm and run till next morning (this time around I turn on only what is necessary, no fridge, no laptops, no pumping of water. Just TV, Phones, fans n lighting points.) That is how I have been Living for many months now.

Hi. Please, is this your system still working? I want to assemble mine. Wanted to get feedback. Thanks.
