The Christian Association of Nigeria yesterday elected a new president. The elected president who will take over from Ayo Oritsejafor is Supo Ayokunle the present president of the Nigerian Baptist Convention.

Biography of Ayo Oritsejafor the Out going CAN president.

Ayodele Joseph Oritsejafor (Papa Ayo) is a pastor, evangelist, teacher, prophet and an author. He was born in Delta State, Nigeria. Family Helen Oritsejafor is the wife of Ayo Oritsejafor. Together they have been taking the gospel of Salvation, deliverance and Healing to the Nations of the World. She is the President General of the Daughters of Sarah Fellowship and Chief Host of "Family tips" on the Daughters of Sarah Kitchen Corner TV programme and "Mama Helen and You" a regular talk show on ABN Africa. They have 2 sons and 1 daughter. How did Ayo Oritsejafor become a priest While in college the Lord showed him a vision of himself preaching to countless thousands of people with great power and authority and he heard the Lord say “Take my Word to the World". According to his words, in 1972 “the Lord saved and miraculously delivered him during a crusade”. Almost immediately, he “felt the call of God upon his life” and enrolled in the New Covenant Bible Institute, Benin City, Nigeria. Ayo Oritsejafor’ activity He became the first Pentecostal leader to hold the position. Oritsejafor was converted through Benson Idahosa, the first Pentecostal archbishop in Nigeria, in 1972, and began preaching almost immediately. On Sunday 15th of November 1987, Pastor Ayo started Word Of Life Bible Church by divine authority. He has taken the gospel to every continent of the world, having organised conferences around the globe. In 1980 Oritsejafor started the regular and popular television programme, "Hour of Deliverance", which presently airs in many local and international television and satellite stations, and he is also the Founder of African Broadcasting Network (ABN) Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor Ministries was the first to launch a Miracle crusade (Lagos Miracle Crusade) from Africa to world audiences, via satellite, in 1987 with evangelist Joe Martins. As a keynote speaker, he has ministered in crusades with well over 2,000,000 souls in attendance. He has also ministered and still ministers in various international and local Conferences and seminars which has taken him to well over 50 countries and every continent of the world. As a prolific writer, he has authored several books amongst which are “Walking in Unity", "Power through The Church", "The Battle is in the Mind", "Be an Over-Comer", " Power for the Journey", "Faith Antidote For Daily Living", "A Voice in the Wilderness ", "A Man amongst Men” to mention but a few. In July 2010, Oritsejafor was elected as the President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, the apex body of all Christians in the country.

Biography of Supo Ayokunle the Elected CAN president

Rev Dr Supo Ayokunle was the sixth indigenous General Secretary of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC). He later became the NBC president.

He was formally the deputy to ex-CAN president Rev Ayo Orisejafo.

PRESIDENT of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC) and candidate of the Christian Council of Nigeria, CCN, Rev. Samson Olasupo Adeniyi Ayokunle, Tuesday emerged the new president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

Rev Ayokunle Ayokunle defeated Elder Joseph Otubu of the Motailatu Church Cherubim and Seraphim Movement (MCCSW) who represented the Organisation of African Instituted Churches, OAIC, with 57 votes to 28.

The outgoing president of the body, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, announced the result of the election at about 2:30 p.m. to a rousing applause of National Executive Council delegates from different parts of the country who had converged at the National Christian Centre in Central Business Centre of Abuja.

By the CAN constitution, Prof. Joseph Otubu who emerged runners-up in the elections automatically becomes the Vice President of the Association for the next three years of the soon to be sworn in administration.
