Description of Opportunity

According to the 2015 Global Terrorism Report, Nigeria has within its territory the first and the fourth most deadly terrorist organization in the world, which are the Boko-Haram terrorist group and the Fulani militants respectively. Following their activities, Nigeria ranks 3rd in the most terrorized countries on earth after Iraq and Afghanistan. More so, National Human Rights Commission reports that Nigeria contributes the 3rd largest number of world’s displaced persons! This same scenario plays in various countries of the world and no country is immune from terrorist attack including Europe.
This trend is alarming and calls for action across board. As such, following the activities of these terrorist groups, casualties result and must require medical aid. However, considering the few number of health
facilities and health workers, first aiders are needed to help alleviate pain and sustain life till medical services may be got.
In view of this, the Nigerian Medical Students Association, one of the foremost health advocates in the
country, in partnership with the Red Cross and national Emergency management Agency wishes to arm student leaders from all part of Africa, with focus on student leaders between 18-25years taking into cognizance effective regional representations and gender balance, with essentials of Basic Life Support & Community First Aid. We do not wish to make heroes of them but true first aiders in event of injuries and/or accidents.
