Football coaches, referees and administrators in Anambra State will have the rare privilege of updating their knowledge of the game during the maiden Anambra State Football Association Training/retraining seminar which started today, 17th of June at Don Ritz Hotel, Udoka Housing Estate, Nnewi. Practicals will hold on Saturday, 18th of June at Paul University, Awka.

The 2-day seminar is aimed at equipping football coaches, referees and administrators in the state with up-to-date and requisite skills needed to drive the Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah led Anambra FA’s novel initiative “Football Made in Anambra”.

The Chairman, Anambra State FA, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, who is also the chief host had earlier pledged during his inauguration to re-invent football in the state through articulated programmes that would put the state on the national and global scene.

Speaking to pressmen, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah expressed his elation at the commencement of the maiden edition of the training/retraining seminar.

“In fulfillment of our election promises and as part of our efforts to set the pace and ensure speedy growth of grassroots football in the state, we identified the training and retraining of football coaches, referees and administrators in the state by renowned instructors from across the country as the first and most important step in preparation for Football Made in Anambra”.

Dr. Ubah said. “This training/retraining seminar will serve as the bedrock for the development we are bringing to Anambra state football. We have taken out time to get the best resource persons available in Nigeria and I want to assure Anambrarians that this is just the beginning of the revolution that is coming to Anambra state football”, Dr. Ubah promised.

Some of the resource persons billed to lecture at the seminar include CAF Instructor, Chief Festus Onigbinde, who will lecture on “ The game of football, the coach, content of football and coaching” while FIFA Referees instructor, Mr Linus Mba will deliver a paper on “Psychology of the Referee and Match management”. Former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Amb. Fanny Amun will lecture on “Ideal football structure”.

Also, seasoned referee instructor and retired FIFA referee, Callistus Chukwujekwu will lecture the participants on the latest amendments in the rule of the game, while Secretary of NFF’s Integrity Officer and National Security Officer, Dr. Christian Emeruwa will speak on “FIFA Integrity Initiative”. Dr. Christian Emeruwa will also speak on “Stadium safety, security and services” while Former NFF board member, Chidi Offor Okenwa will deliver a paper titled “Relevance of the Statutes”.
The seminar which ends on Saturday, 18th of June will serve as the basis for other programmes the FA is planning.
