– Civilian JTF intercepted two suicide bombers in Maiduguri – The terrorists were shot dead before they could detonate the bomb that was strapped to their bodies – The army has condoned off the area The onslaught against Boko Haram terrorists has continued to yield positive result as two suicide bombers were shot dead by members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (JTF). According to Sahara Reporters, the two male suicide bombers strapped IEDs to their bodies and stormed Kusari area near CBN Staff Quarters in Maiduguri this morning, Friday, June 17. However, they were gunned down before they could detonate the bomb. Massa Umaru who is a member of Civilian JTF who participated in the operation said the suicide bombers were likely targeting early morning prayers at a nearby mosque. The bombers were reportedly queried by the vigilante elders when they sighted them but instead of responding to question, they fled. Umaru said: “Our elders sighted them in our community roaming around, so they called them and tried to know their identities because their faces were strange to us. Instead, they started running, and we pursued them, shot and killed them. There were IEDs wrapped on their bodies that did not yet explode “We thank Allah for saving us from the evil men that had wanted to wreak havoc on residents of Maiduguri. It could have been deadly if they hit their target,” Troops of the Nigerian army have condoned the area while stability is being restored.
