Getting a Spanish visa is not particularly easy- especially for women. A very good friend of mine who has great travel history applied for a visa to Spain (she was going to speak at a huge conference- all expense paid)... She has great travel history, attended ivy league schools abroad (Harvard and Oxford), has a great great job, married with 2 children in Nigeria. The Spanish embassy sent a mail to the conference organizers to verify she was legit, then called her to come over to the embassy (After verifying). When she got there she was given an undertaking to sign that she will return to Nigeria after the conference and come show herself physically at the embassy within 2 weeks of her return. Now this is for someone who is very legit, has a huge huge reputation and is very well traveled! I am definitely not surprised! 1 Like |

The Spanish Embassy didn't refuse them. The crooked organizers didn't follow up on the visa process. Someone pocketed their Visa fees and ticket fees and accomodation fund! This can only happen in this useless country. Corruption here is endemic! |
