JEREMIAH 28 :1-17

This passage should be a big lesson to prosperity preachers who distort the word of God to extort money from their congregation by always telling them that they will be rich by donating money to the church, while neglecting the weightier matters of the scripture.

The prophet Haniniah, son of Azzur was a prosperity preacher whold the Isrealites that they will not be taken into exile,he was prophesying prosperity in time of idolatry instead of condenming them for their nefarious acts ,he busy telling them what they would like to hear.

Jeremiah told him in jer 28 :9 " so a prophet who predicts peace must carry the burden of proof.Only when his predictions come true can it be known that he is really from God."

What happened to him in the end should serve as a lesson to today's prosperity preachers .

Be warned false prophecy of prosperity is dangerous

To be prosperous in the kingdom is not a cheap talk. It is hard work. So prosperity in the kingdom is not a talk and get rich thing. It has price tag. And mind you as i mentioned in another thread, prosperity in the bible does not mean only financial but all round prosperity. Now coming back to financial prosperity, as long as you are a child of God, prosperity does not answer to any thing other than spirituality.
No matter how much he gives, he who covereth his sin shall not prosper. You can be a sinner and have money or even be rich, but then it comes with sorrows. Check all the patriarch, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob. They all work in prosperity, none of them was recorded sick! They commanded supernatural abundant as a result of covenant walk and obedient to the word of God.
It takes details to be distinguished. Most of the preachers today don't give or even don't have the details of what it takes to prosper in the kingdom; hence you see members of their congregation observing only the giving part without taking into consideration other details.
For instance, offering is a mean of worship. Abraham while going to offer Isaac as sacrifice said he was going to worship God. But the mentality we have today of giving is and investment mentality. I give to God with the mind of getting immediate return, no wonder there is no return!
Where do we put giving to the poor around us? What of giving to our parents? - and not once in a blue moon. I mean placing your parents on regular income base. You are so committed to giving in the church but you are neglecting your parents. You close your bowel of compassion against the needy around you and you are expecting supernatural prosperity. It does not work that way. Whoever close his hear to the cry of the poor, will cry himself and God will not listen - that's what the bible says.

It's just unfortunate that most preacher today only hammer on the giving of tithe and offering without other details.
Financial prosperity in the kingdom is real. God is not a poor God. He wants all His children to be rich, but on His own terms not on our terms. When He gives you prosperity, He backs you up against the enemy. That's the difference between kingdom prosperity and that of the world - No sorrow attached
