The campaign for Texas to secede from the union, dubbed Texit, surged after Thursday’s vote in Great Britain to leave the European Union.

The Texas Nationalist Movement saw its support jump on social media and on its petition following the success of the British vote, known as Brexit.

“So, can we #TEXIT now?” asked Michelle Ray, who posts on Twitter as @GaltsGirl.

The TNM called Thursday for Texas Gov. Greg Abbott to “support a similar vote for Texans” in the aftermath of the British decision.

“It is past time that the people of Texas had their say on our continued relationship with the Union and its sprawling Federal bureaucracy,” said TNM president Daniel Miller in a statement.

Everybody will now want to separate. The world should be coming together not breaking apart. There is unity in strength. Britain exits the EU, Scotland breaks away from the UK, Nothern Ireland breaks away and Wales breaks away too, all to remain with the EU. Where does that leave Britain?

I've never thought secession as a solution to anything because from unity comes division. Once biafra unites to break away from Nigeria, Abakiliki must want to break away from biafra, Imo must start thinking they control a large chunk of the economy so they must break away too...In the end, it's still all one bunch of greedy criminals looking for their own pockets and dragging every reprobate fool along to fulfill their personal agenda.

If Texas & Britain that are in Unions that work, what about Biafra & Niger Delta who are in a Union that doesnt work. A Union that is one sided.

Niger Delta is in a mess but soon North East will be beautified with oil money from ND.

Oil which is still the only reason why the UNION called Nigeria is still existing.
