I OC my CPU from the motherboard BIOS manually. My GPU has 2 different BIOS (which I can activate with a toggle switch) one is the factory setting and the other has a modified BIOS which unlocks the core voltages.

MSI afterburner can only unlock 0.1V(100mV) for both the core and memory and for high GPU overclocks I need over 0.2V which I get with a modified Asus GPU tweak software which allows me to use 1.35V from 1.1V.

Vulkan is a graphics API though so isn't constrained by the motherboard. I don't think there's Vulkan support for the GTX 780 as that Nvidia's 'Kepler' architecture but I might be wrong.
You seem to be using MSI afterburner already. I've linked a video but for some reason I can't get my sound to work. Hope it helps.

hav tried a lot of game video recorders before i settled for msi almost 10 including bandicam.
i use msi but the rever server software is always not running when i run it.

I get the "cannot establish connection with the update server" error too but it still works for me.
You should find one that support GPU acceleration so you use the GPU to encode, less stress on the CPU.
Bandicam supports AMP APP, there's got to be one that supports CUDA..compression fidelity is usually better that way.

i use msi to record gameplay coz the videos are relatively smaller.
bandicam seems to be heavier

yeah, fraps is garbage at game capture.

I thought all Nvidia Gpu's from the 600 series and above support Shadowplay. I think Shadowplay is still the best game capture solution

You sir, certainly correct with that. Shadowplay is definitely one on NV strengths.

that shadow play is funny . before you can us eit the software ha sto detect your pc configuration .
and you have to be online

You mentioned you have a Havendale/Clarkdale mobo which CPU have you? I think I have an i7-870 laying somewhere in storage. Where do you live?

For an AMD 290/290X, it will. You CPU will also have an impact on the overall framerate. Mines paired with an i7 processor.

AH! One thing you mentioned was that your record with MSI, recording gameplay will have a huge impact on your framerate, around 10-15FPS lower. I used fraps to log the framerates.

the recorded videos are too large they take a lot of space . a single recording of like 10 mins can weigh up to 40gb
