Shackles were used to bind an enslaved African’s wrists and ankles. Made of heavy iron, these shackles were not only used to restrict movement, but they were also a way for plantation owners to humiliate defiant Blacks who tried to escape and to physically and psychologically control their captives

5. Lynching

Enslaved Blacks were regularly hanged, at the will of their master, most often for the “official” reason of revolt. However, it could have been for any cause whatsoever and merely “labeled” as such.

6. Burning

Enslaved Africans were often burned at the stakes for participating or being suspected of participating in an uprising

During slavery, Black men would often be killed if they were accused of rape. However, when accused of attempted rape, they were often punished with castration.

8. Mutilation
Blacks who resisted in anyway were subjected to torture by having hands, arms and legs cut off, or other body parts disfigured



9. Branding
Branding of enslaved men and women for identification was common during the colonial era. However, by the 19th century, it was used primarily as punishment

NO enslavement can be greater than mental slavery.

Very bad! Very very bad indeed, but not as bad as what we Africans/blacks have done, are doing and will continue doing to ourselves. I have come to the conclusion that the black man is the specie that refused to learn and is not learning from history.

The black man is lover of vain things over his community and future. Do you know that some of these slaves were sold for things like mirrors and whisky? We are still selling ourselves for mirrors and whisky today. That is why one man will loot a poor state dry to go and build a fine house in Europa or America, stocked with mirrors and whisky. He'll abandon the house and run when the host country raises eyebrows about his wealth and still have people hailing him.
