This thread was as a result of the above reprobation made by a Twitter user, where he asserted that A Bachelor's degree at OAU is equivalent to a Doctorate degree at Covenant University. Its just an hyperbole!
Though the two universities are incomparable?
Have we for once sat down to ask ourselves why students in private universities perform better than that of the government institutions?
From my own observation, the difference in performance is not because of facilities or seasoned lectuters, neither is it caused by stable academic calendar nor by curriculum.
The major reason for the difference in academic performance is the hypocrisy of Nigerian lecturers.
From what I have observed many lecturers in federal and state universities are adjunct/associate lecturers in private universities, they cowardly have different levels of assessment. While lecturing, setting questions, preparing marking schemes and grading they have two different templates, one for students in government school, the other for private university students.
In the case of government institutions, these lecturers set 'terrible' questions, mark students down and keep themselves out of reach of students.
On the other hand, coming to lecture in private university, they dump all unethical behaviour and do the right thing.
Its just a pity we live in a world where people have no conscience!!!
