The library in Calabar looks like that now.
Likewise the e-library in Uyo.
The Oyinbos left too early, for the North.
They left too late for the South.
What a warped mentality

What a warped mentality

It's not a 'mentality', it's an assessment based on the truth.

Someone posted a picture, with no context of a the British Council library (not a Nigerian university or public library).

I pointed out that there are public libraries in Nigeria that are just as good now, if not better.

I also drew attention to the fact that the North was not ready for independence, when it was granted. They were not calling for the right to govern themselves as an independent nation in the 1950s. The South was.

nop I disagree with this, there is a clear deference between Nig nd SA in the form of goverment we practised during the colonial era and the intention of white for both countries. In Nig is all about how the British government can exploit us use our natural resources to develope Britain. But in the case of South Africa, is a mixed race of whites who has naturalised themselves as South Africans, hence there is a sincerity of purpose in developing SA.

Probably the whites would have naturalized as Nigerians in order form them to remain here. Even South Africa was being exploited back then.

Both the south and North weren't ready. Stop saying the south were ready.

The photo shows the Interior of the British council
centre library in Ibadan, Oyo state in 1964. Notice
how all the men cross their legs as they read
their books?

The South was ready, that is why so many southerners were in the North to get slaughtered. Someone have to run the civil service.

Poverty rates in the North are as how now as they were then. Likewise literacy rates.

Meanwhile in the South literacy and living standards have risen.

Probably, but non eventually did. This has alot to do with our unfriendly weather, unlike southern Africa with similar weather to Europe. This explain why we have combination of blacks and whites in southern african countries such as SA, Zimbabwe, Namibia Seychelles and the likes. On your other points yes SA and other Southern African countries were exploited, but whatever is taken from them remains in those countries because they have nationalized themselves as an Africans. If you can recollect how Mogabe the Zimbabwien president reclaimed lands the whites forcefully took from the blacks and redistributed it to it original owners. Maybe you need to read this book, how europe underdeveloped Africa by Walter Rodney. By then you might understand the more the point am stressing
