It will be difficult for me to start teaching you on here!

For starters:
These are the books I recommend:

1) PHP 5.0 and MySQL Bible - Tim Converse, Joyce Park and Clarke Morgan.
It has a 'loose' approach to the pedagogy used in teaching the language. These folks are no more different than us, or more correctly - our parents. Don't underestimate their book though. It's a method book, you'll find worth your time. It has five main sections:

-The Basics
- Database specific aspects of PHP and a coverage of most PHP constructs
- Advanced Features
- Extensions, Connections (paraphrased)
- Some sample projects you can follow

2) The PHP online manual at 'www.php.net' - This is an invaluable reference material that you will need from time to time. This is also available in compressed html format which you can download and view on your computer (or device that reads .chm). Go for the 'user-annotated' version as it contains helpful comments from other users.

I assumed:
- You have access to a computer, with an Operating System which has a plain text editor, like notepad.
- You have a browser on that Computer.
- You have a local server software like 'WAMP', 'XAMPP' or so.
- 100mb worth of data to download the books and the 'local server software'.

If that's all set, then...

Let's Begin!
