Everyone has a bedtime routine which ranges from brushing our teeth, washing off the whole day's stress and bathing before getting into bed. One very important routine we are probably forgetting or not considering is keeping the under wears out also at bedtime. These may sound pretty hilarious especially for some individuals but the truth is -this actually has a lot of health benefits for us both as male and female counterparts.

Many medical experts have identified the various health benefits of keeping the under wears out at bedtime for both sexes. This article focuses on identifying some of these benefits which we would all find pretty interesting and helpful.


Promotes an optimized sperm production and keeps your sex organ healthy
A lot of people would wonder how this works. Dr. Brian Steixner, Director of the Institute for Men's Health at Jersey Urology Group in US has warned that men who sleep in boxers are at risk of affecting the quality of their sperm. He stated that the scrotal sac (which houses the testicles) can become too warm during the night, creating more problems for men. According to him, these regions require the right temperature to enhance sperm production, facilitate blood flow to the penis and prevent erectile dysfunction. Also, based on research, the testicles are able to produce quality sperm at temperature under 36.7 degrees centigrade or 98 degree Fahrenheit.


Reduces the risk of vaginal infections
Another medical expert, Dr. Sherry Thomas, an Obstetrics and Gynaecology surgeon at St. John's Regional Medical Center in Oxnard, California states that wearing no undergarments or just cotton ones allow the external genitals to dry reducing bacteria growth that could have gone up through your urethra and cause a bladder infection. Dr. Nancy Herta, another obstetrics and gynecologist at Michigan State University advises people with vaginal issues to consider keeping the under wears off. Discharges and sweat often allows moisture down there and an under wear is capable of trapping moisture, promoting a conducive environment for the growth of bad microbes while bacteria yeast/ fungi infections also thrive well in warm and moist conditions. On the other hand, proper aeration helps to keep the area dry and clean, maintain levels of PH, prevent growth of molds/odors and promote the auto-clean function of the vagina.


Keeps the stress hormone(cortisol) level low

Cortisol is a fat storing hormone with raises in its levels based on how deep we sleep and our body temperature. In order to lower your stress hormone as well as the storage of fat in your body, it is important to keep the underwear off to allow for cooling of your body and regulate the cortisol level.


Promote good sexual relationship among couples
Sleeping without under wears tightens the bond between spouses. Yes!! The more we touch our spouse/partner, the closer we get to feel. Studies have shown that the hormone oxytocin is released during these touches. Oxytocin is a neurotransmitter which creates good feelings between spouses. It also enables feelings of calmness, contentment and security around our mate and reduces anxiety and stress. This hormone is also referred to as the "bonding hormone" as it tightens the bond between spouse/partner. It is also known to stimulate sexual urges enhancing intimate intercourse between spouses. For most women with little or no sexual moods or arousal, they would benefit from sleeping without under wears.


Improves the quality of sleep

Keeping the under wear off helps to keep the body temperature leveled, cooling the body, allowing a high quality and sound sleep. We become refreshed and energetic in the morning and ready to start a beautiful day.



If we have not thought about sleeping without our under wears out, I advise we should start now. I, as an individual love to and I can attest to these health benefits which are just a part of a lot of numerous benefits. For married couples, feel comfortable and free around your spouse, enjoy good health and great intimacy, keep the fire burning, have a great sleep and be happy every day!!!

For the single ladies, it is a lot easier with you. Give your jewel some air and let it enjoy the best of health you can offer!! Whatever your age, the health of your reproductive and urinary organs (pelvic organs) is crucial. Whenever something goes wrong down there, our overall health and quality of life is affected. If you still feel so uncomfortable sleeping without an under wear, then keep it really simple and light. I recommend cotton pants for the females as it still allows some room for aeration.
