Since last week, custom men in 12 pick-up trucks have raided two shops and carted away goods in Alaba market at 2am (at night). One of the shop had okirika(used clothes) in it. The other raided yesterday(14/7/2016) was a used fridge and freezer shop. According to the security guards, they were held at gunpoint by the custom men and their phones were seized. They broke down the shop doors, taking away used fridges and used clothes (Okirika).

The market association at Alaba Market (St. Peter Road) are complaining to the police but they are not getting any help from the police station at Ojo.

These are mere traders whose shops were broken into at night. They are not importers of these goods. I wonder if this act by custom men is legal. Why a night time raid? Isn't it the court that issues a warrant to this effect?

Is there any way one can report this issue to customs HQ?

Really end times. The guy who owns the freezer shop was weeping all day. I felt for him. Pretty sad. There is no law that bans trading used freezers and used clothes in Nigeria. Yes, illegal to import these stuffs, but not trade on them
