I have a gtbank dom acct in dollars. Can someone pay pounds from uk into this account? Will it work? If it can not work, what can i do to fix it.

Yes, you can, however, your bank will convert the money into the denomination of the account, meaning, in your own case, they will convert it into US $ and they will use their own exchange rate.
Remember the banks are there to make money.

Gtbank can use the details for your USD account to open a pound account for you, if you don't mind having separate currency accounts.
