Atomic Absorption spectrometer used for analyzing soil samples don't come cheap. In fact few university can boast of it. So teaching is out of the scope...Though they are simpler testing methods, I depend on AAS for precise accuracy especially with trace elements.

Really, as a soil scientist, you also know what biochemist don't do? Anyway I am not a biochemist, I studied pure and applied chemistry and did a lot of work on soil along side many biochemist. Also there is what is called soil biology and Analytic chemistry.

yes we have chemistry and biochemistry students come to our department to meet our lecturers for consultation during their project when dealing with soil related topic however soil scientists still have d say; may I let u know there is a professional body for soil scientists

Yes I know there is professional body for soil scientist. Scientist do analytic test on many materials including soil. Biologist, Chemist and Physicist all deals with many materials in nature ranging from water, light, elements, soil etc. Soil science is a branch of study common to them all..Soil scientists are specialist in soil science, it doesn't make chemist or biologist inferior to them when they do soil test.

nice contributions from all of you. very impressive. please what time of the year or seasons is best to conduct a soil test. its a 12 hectare meant for grain crops up north.
