Emmanuel Adebayor has been banned for three matches for raking his boot across the face of his former Arsenal team-mate Robin van Persie.
The FA confirmed the punishment after the Manchester City striker reluctantly accepted a charge of violent conduct over the challenge he made during Saturday's clash at Eastlands.

He will miss Sunday's derby visit to Manchester United and subsequent matches against Fulham in the Carling Cup on Wednesday and the home League match with West Ham United on Monday week.

The Togo international must wait till a later date to see if a further charge of improper conduct yields extra punishment.

He is still facing a fine or an additional suspension for the manner in which he celebrated scoring during his side's 4-2 win. Adebayor sparked a furious reaction from away fans by running the length of the pitch and sliding on his knees in front of the Arsenal contingent.
An FA statement read: 'A Regulatory Commission today considered the charge of violent conduct issued against Manchester City’s Emmanuel Adebayor under the fast-track disciplinary procedure, following an incident with Robin van Persie during their fixture against Arsenal on the 12 September.
'Taking into consideration Mr Adebayor’s acceptance of the charge of violent conduct the Regulatory Commission have ordered that he serve a three-match suspension from all football, commencing Thursday 17 September.
'A separate charge of improper conduct will be considered at a later date.'
