The Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, has opined that the current state of economic hardship being faced by the country was self-inflicted.

According to him, the fact that the economy was in recession should not be a surprise since it was a upshot of bad policies.

Sanusi stated that the country was made bankrupt by unrealistic policies and failure of those in charge of the government to implement the right policies.

Sanusi made this statement at the National Defence College, Abuja, on Wednesday. while delivering a lecture on the Deregulation of the Downstream Oil Sector and Nigeria’s Economic Development

He said, “Nigeria is bankrupt; we are bankrupted by a policy that was foolish, that was unrealistic, and unsustainable and by all means our refusal over the years to listen.

“We are surprised that we have an economic recession; we are actually surprised that we are in recession? We created the recession.”

The former Governor of the CBN, expressed his opinion on the removal of fuel subsidy, claiming that subsidy was a scam designed to benefit a few in the country while also faulting the proponents of the fuel subsidy cause.

According to him, the country had been parting away with almost 20 million Dollars for every 30,000 metric tons of kerosene imported into the country.

“The whole issue of fuel subsidy was set up to create opportunity for a few people to make money, and it was presented in a manner that convinced everybody it was for the poor.”

Now, no money is missing, all the money has been gathered and dumped in an evil vault called TSA where the common man cannot see or touch it except if the emperor says so.

How do you run an economy after withdrawing half of the money in the country into a non functional vault?

The set of animals shouting TSA saved us money seem not to get it.
How do you save your money when you are dying of hunger?
How do you save money when your mother is dying of a curable disease?

For the common man out there who doesn't understand easily, TSA is like a businessman who dumped all his capital money in his bank account. Then every month, he will withdraw some money from the TSA to fund his family. You tell me how he can grow his business.

Everything is not supposed to be dealt with force. We are no longer in the military.
