Join me in a growing movement of millions of people across the planet who are taking action to solve the world's biggest challenges.
For every action you take as Global Citizens you earn points that can be used to win great rewards like tickets to see Rihanna, Kendrick Lamar, Selena Gomez and Metallica perform live at the fifth Global Citizen Festival, coming to the Great Lawn in Central Park on Sept. 24.

The festival, which aims to encourage activism and put pressure on leaders to combat poverty, will be streamed live.

Major Lazer will also headline, and guest artists include Usher, Ellie Goulding, Eddie Vedder and Chris Martin, who helped organize the festival last year. Speakers include Hugh Jackman, Salma Hayek and Chelsea Handler.

The festival’s organizers are focused on aiding the United Nations’ global goals and a 15-year plan to end extreme poverty, which were laid out last year. The festival has also partnered with Gucci’s Chime for Change campaign, which promotes gender equality. “If we don’t ultimately empower girls, making sure they have access to quality education, or tackle discriminatory laws like forced marriage or honor killings, we’re never going to end extreme poverty,” said Hugh Evans, chief executive of Global Citizen.

The event is expected to draw 60,000 people to the park and more than 20 million viewers around the world, on broadcasts on MSNBC, YouTube and iHeartRadio. (The Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich will produce.) Tickets can be acquired by completing tasks laid out on globalcitizenfestival.com, such as making phone calls to elected officials or attending rallies. (Just posting on Twitter or signing petitions won’t cut it anymore.)

Beyoncé and Coldplay were headliners last year.

“In the turbulent political environment that currently exists, Global Citizen can be a uniting force for good,” Mr. Evans said.
