A word that has recently become synonymous lately with Nigeria’s sports is not an issue of the present but a time bomb which for decades now has been looming and ticking away to blow up in our faces.
As a country, we once pride ourselves as the giant of Africa in sports but with all sincerity and fairness, we know we are not. Apart from being patriotic, we all know it’s not working for Nigeria!!!!
The latest trend of event at the Olympics has showed us that we are by no way improving but going down and with a great speed at that.

Below are the reasons why Nigeria will never perform well at the Olympics:
1. Under Preparation and lack of preparation
2. Funding issues and issues of embezzlement or misappropriation of funds
3. Paying too much attention to football and basketball with about 40 individuals competing for just 2 medals! Madness!!!
4. Fielding athletes for events we cannot win; Imagine Nigerians expecting medals in rowing
5. Fielding few athletes compared to other countries.
