What if US soldiers had to pay for the weapons they carried?

In short, we would have one hell of an ineffective fighting force. Soldiers aren’t rich (base pay for a new private in the Army is $1449 a month), and good quality weapons aren’t cheap. I can envision many a used Chinese knock off of an AK 47 in the armory because they are plentiful and relatively inexpensive. On the other end of the spectrum, soldiers with more money may opt for a weapon orders of magnitude better, such as a Heckler & Koch HK 417.

As far as sidearms go, I’m sure we’d see everything from a .380 cal Saturday Night Special picked up at your local pawn shop for under a hundred bucks to Rambo wannabe types with .50 cal Desert Eagles. This is a very powerful weapon and tends to kick a bit, as illustrated below.

Armorers would have to stock several different calibers of bullets, and inevitably what you need will be out of stock when you need it.

In short, it would be nothing short of chaos.

Pls how much does a private in United States of Nigeria earn?

The above mentioned pay if correct is close to half a million in USN

$1449×#300(we all know a dollar in USN is more than 300 naira)= #434700!

No wonder our soldiers are always aggressive!!!

You need to understand that as a third world hell hole that nigeria is, $1449 will seem like a lot because of the standard of living here is very low. But that money in USA is reallly small, after taxes and other expenses.

Ergo, a middle class citizen in the USA can easily become an upperclass citizen in Nigeria
But a middle class citizen here in Nigeria will probably be a lower class citizen in USA.
