Black Africa will be better off if juju, charm, shrine, grotto, are all banned and destroyed and their practisers prosecuted. We've used these things to inflict too much injury in one another. |

This is infringing on his right to religion. If a Christian can carry bible, a Muslim can carry Quran, a traditionalist can carry charms. Afterall they are all valid religions in Nigeria, and all three items are seen as items of protection. That young man should get a lawyer or traditionalists need to raise money for him to sue that stupid court to extinction. Nonsense. |

The police that arrested him, the DPO of the station, the Prosecutor and even the judge are more likely to have more charms than the suspects. Most Nigerians believe in potency of juju as not all charms are used for negative purposes. The spate of kidnapping rampant nowadays may be responsible for the police action of arresting him. Criminals do use bad charms in their nefarious activities. Though possession of charms is not a crime yet we should not allowed those suspected of possessing negatively one to roam our streets. |

freecocoa: Because in Nigeria, a lot of people use charms for evil deeds. The Bible doesn't brainwash people, people who get brainwashed by the Bible don't not understand the words in the Bible. They are brainwashed the people they call spiritual leaders. |

Dreamwaker:You still haven't answered my question, how do they use charms for evil deeds? How does the charm work? I'd like to think this is a very simple question. Really? Words that are written in plain English and probably their native languages too, is what you are telling me they don't understand? 1 Like |
Re: Man Charged To Court For Carrying Charm In Lagos by Nobody: 12:03am On Aug 17, 2016 |
freecocoa: OK I will answer your "very simple question". Example is a case of the man arrested. He wore the charm to boost his confidence mentally and enable him to break into people's home with the tools he was caught on him. Now carrying the charms is not the crime but the intent to use charms to carry out a crime. Yes it might be plain English but twisted by the spiritual leaders just like how certain so called Islamic leaders brainwash people to carry out suicidal attacks. If these guys actually understand the plain English written in these religious books, they won't be any brainwashing. 1 Like |

Dreamwaker:Still doesn't make any sense, what I'd like to know is how they/you are able to tell the charm is reason why he was able to try to break into someone's house? Dude was caught trying to break in(i think) why not arrest him for that alone and leave juju out of it, since there's no way to prove juju did anything? Like the quran didn't command to kill unbelievers? Or the bible didn't instruct that a woman who was raped be sold to her rapist? What's there not to understand? 1 Like |
