Immigration repatriates 80 illegal aliens from Abia

No fewer than 80 illegal immigrants have been repatriated from Abia State, the state Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Mrs. Anthonia Opara, has said. Opara said yesterday in Umuahia that the illegal immigrants who invaded the state unlawfully from Niger Republic were sent packing last month.
The comptroller, who addressed journalists at the headquarters of the command, said the suspects were arrested during a mop up exercise. She said the suspects, who were confirmed to be nationals of the Republic of Niger, were picked up at Aba, Umuahia and Bende areas of the state, adding that the illegal immigrants sneaked into Abia through the neighbouring states.
“The information of the immigrants got to our office through some concerned people in the state. Immediately we got the information, our men and officers swung into action and got them arrested and they were taken to the office of the immigration service for investigation,” she said.Www.supremereporters.
