Nigeria has failed to qualify for the final of the football event at the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Samson Siasia's U23 team were defeated by Germany by two goals to nil. Dream Team VI will now play Honduras on Saturday for the bronze medal.

Here are 6 reasons why Germany emerged victorious against Nigeria.

1. Nigeria didn't play with cohesion. The players didn't play as a team.

2. Nigeria lacked experience. This is the first time many of the players will be playing at this level of football.

3. Germany's players had more quality and technicality.

4. Nigeria's defense was porous. Germany could've easily scored 4 goals.

5. Etebo's absence. Nigeria missed its highest goal scorer who was out injured.

6. They didn't have enough support from the Nigerian government. Their stay in Brazil has been stressful due to financial constraints.
