ALTER YOUR ATTITUDE & DICTATE YOUR PROGRESS

…. “God almighty created each and everyone of us for a place in the world, and for the least of us to think that we are created only to be what we are, and not what we can make (of) ourselves, is to impute an improper motive to the creator for creating us” - Marcus Garvey.

Behavior is a by-product of attitude. That is, what a man preconceives is what he let out in form of behavior.

Attitude is a mental disposition towards one’s self, another person, a thing i.e. it is the feeling given to any stimulus around us. No matter what the opportunities available to you; if you don’t greet such opportunities with positive attitude, you are doomed to fail. Attitude is the off-spring of nature, nurture and environment. Nature refers to all genetically inherited traits; nurture talks about the accumulation of life and living experiences (customs, tradition or culture) over time, while environment is centered on our present surroundings.

William James an American Psychologist posited that “man alone of all creatures of the earth can change his own pattern. Man alone is the architect of his destiny. The greatest discovery in our generation is that human beings, by changing the inner attitudes of their minds, can change the outer aspects of their lives”.

Bewilderedly, some people cannot live above poverty because they’ve already resigned to fate believing that they are destined to be poor while they assume that those who are rich were designed and predestined to be rich. More baffling is the notion that they are helpless and cannot do anything to change and improve their circumstances. This set of people who adopts this kind of mindset, attitude and/or approach to life are not always ready to take risk nor make efforts to upturn their circumstance. They are usually, laidback, pessimistic, passive and with grave low self-esteem often characterized with ‘battered ego’.

No one is destined to be poor. God created everyone with specific purpose and equal chances; what makes the difference and dictates the degrees of success is how one makes use of the various opportunities that comes one’s way and the level of one’s self-image. Discovering this worrisome trend of low self-concept among people and to dispel such mentality chiefly amongst the African- Americans, Marcus Garvey asserted that ... “God almighty created each and everyone of us for a place in the world, and for the least of us to think that we are created only to be what we are, and not what we can make (of) ourselves, is to impute an improper motive to the creator for creating us” .

Attitude dictates and controls our behavior either consciously or sub-consciously. Some people believe that once a man is very wealthy, such a one must have involved in rituals or must have gotten the money through dubious means. This line of thinking is wrong. There are many legitimate businesses or productive activities that can make one rich without been involved in ritual practices or illegalities. It’s just for one to get one’s priorities right; be very calculative, sensitive, daring and effectively maximize the various opportunities that comes one’s way in which ever environment one finds one’s self.

Don’t be like those mediocre who have concluded in their minds that significant wealth cum riches are exclusively reserved for a classified strata of individuals in the society. Don’t accept such heresies and do not allow such teaches to render you unproductive, uncreative and a dependent in the society. Our God is a rich God and has handed over to every one of us all we require to succeed. It’s now left for us to make effective use of this gifts, ideas and activate the latent powers inborn in us to better our lots.

Poverty is not lack of money but the ignorant of your inborn inherent abilities. You are responsible for whatever you become whether rich or poor.

Change your attitude & dictate your life outcomes!
