RIO 2016: Brazil Wins Olympic Gold For Men's Football by Engrobiorah(m): 12:12am On Aug 21, 2016
Brazil won the Olympic soccer gold medal for the first time in its history Saturday after it defeated Germany 5-4 in a penalty shootout in Rio's Maracana Stadium.

Captain Neymar scored the decisive penalty after Nils Petersen saw his effort saved by goalkeeper Weverton.

Neymar had given Brazil a 1-0 lead in the first half with a brilliant free kick before Max Meyer equalized for Germany in the second half.

This success avenges the 7-1 defeat Brazil suffered in the semifinal of its own World Cup in 2014.
