Good good good!
While John Kerry is in Sokoto to discuss jihad, terrorism and religious tolerance in a place where 8 souls were wasted yesterday by zealots, Enugu is celebrating the arrival of a cargo plane for business and trade, they dont care about Kerry because they know that America does not go around with goodnews, if in doubt ask people in Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen, Afghanistan where America is always visiting to discuss nothing but counter terrorism which they brought to those areas.
Sadly, who does America use to spread terrorism (not Hindus, Buddhists, Christians, traditional worshipers etc) but Islam and Muslims and they have refused to open their eyes.

I will rather be in Enugu welcoming these pilots than in Sokoto with John Kerry as an idiom says ''it is only a mad person that abandons a ceremony where a king is being crowned to attend an event where a man is being cured of madness''

Enugu carry Go!

Well done.

Those eastern people who still use MMIA Lagos even though they are returning to the east - they should not hurl insults to Yoruba when Yoruba taunts easterners/Igbo.

There are still some Igbos who because they want to save a few dollars or pounds still take flights to Lagos when they are returning to the east. Too bad if they are unwilling to sacrifice a few more monies for a flight direct to AIIA Enugu.

Ethiopian Air charges a few more monies to Enugu.

Uncle...

Forgive me for not being as impressed as seeing a Governor welcoming a foreign cargo plane to the Airport like its a big deal.

Afonja or not, the sight of the Governor welcoming an aircraft isn't impressive to me.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
does the gov has two heads? anything that can boost development and economic activities of igbo land is very impressive especially at this time of economic recession in nigeria. for the Gov to be there physically to welcome the development is very remarkable as it serves to event a wide media publicity and as encourgement to other airlines to fellow suit.

The first international cargo flight landed at the Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu state earlier today. Below is governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's address at the ceremony marking the historic event...

PROTOCOLS

I am truly delighted to welcome you all to yet another historic occasion in Enugu State and in the existence of the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

Three years ago, precisely on the 24th of August, 2013, we welcomed the first ever international passenger flight to Enugu operated by the Ethiopian Airlines.

Today, we have gathered again to celebrate the first landing of cargo at this same Airport and which once more, has happened courtesy of the Ethiopian Airlines.

Needless to say that this event marks yet another very significant milestone in the history of aviation in Enugu State and indeed, the entire south east region.

We certainly cannot overemphasize the tremendous socio-economic benefits that this development promises to bring to the region.

It means that not only can our people fly to and fro all parts of the world but they can now have bulk cargo delivered to them via this airport from every corner of the planet. It will save costs, enhance convenience and safety in importation of goods, it will promote employment and more importantly, it will help raise the international profile of this Airport and by extension, that of Enugu and the entire region.

During the first ever Enugu State Investment Summit that was held in April this year, we had boldly declared that Enugu State is ready for business. Today’s event undoubtedly provides yet evidence in support of that declaration.

We are immensely grateful to the Federal Government for the commitment and the remarkable efforts it made to bring this dream to fruition.

We thank the Ethiopian Airlines for once again taking the lead to bring relief to our people through the provision of services that were once difficult to imagine.

We reassure the Company of the unremitting goodwill of our people and of our continued support, partnership and cooperation towards the actualization of our mutual interests in the economic development of the region.

Ladies and Gentlemen, may I once again, thank you all for coming and it is my pleasure to invite everyone, more especially the business moguls, to take full advantage of this new service, for the benefit of all.

Thank you and God bless.

Rt. Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi
Governor, Enugu State
23/8/16

Great news, this is what I love to hear. our major challenge in SE, SS has bn bad leadership. Whether resource control or not we need to pray for good credible leaders. I am from this region bt leave currently in North Central, have bn to a few northern states. Do you Kaduna state water board still delivers water to its residence, good in the north is a norm, I mean state government roads, these guys have grown above "I will build good road" campaign slang, it's time we asked for more from our leaders down south. Why we scream resource control, let's also seek for credible leaders. Take Aba for instance should be a standard Int'l market competing in infrastructure with Alaba . The question is, have we not had governors in this states? what have they done with all the allocations Before we conclude the people troubling
us are from outside, let's look inward and solve the problem from within by demanding good governance.
