In Yoruba land, slaves used to take up the status of their masters and were generally regarded as arrogant. If the slaves become wealthy men as often happens, they prefer to remain slaves if the household of their owner is very illustrious but slaves are never Ogboni members, they are represented by their masters while free men of whatever economic means are automatic members of the Ogboni. It was a one party system of government. No opposition, as resolutions were based strictly on merit and common sense and slaves are not free to use their common sense on all issues. They need to check and recheck with their masters on many issues.

As it was then, so it is nowadays. ARE YOU FREE TO USE YOUR COMMON SENSE? Do not be deceived by your status as CEO, MD or landlord. If you are not free to use your common sense as in you do things against your common sense as a routine, then you are a slave so far as that sector is concerned. Human progress depends on people that are free to use their common sense.

Title should be Slavery/Slaves in Yorubaland, not "Yoruba slaves"
two different things.
