Some answer this question directly and while others use the BODMAS principle. Those who solve it directly without BODMAS argue that BODMAS is only applicable when bracket is involved.
Solving this question directly gives us 2 as answer while using BODMAS gives us -17.
To my question, should we use BODMAS while solving the above question?

thanks for the input, so as long as the multiplication sign is there, we are to use BODMAS.
In other words, question like this: 3-3-8+2+5-11+4-27 are to be solved directly without the use of BODMAS?
