In Nigeria, we have lots of love for street foods. Although there are trendy restaurants trying to impress us with their luxury foods, we still find ourselves, loving street foods even more.

To learn more about Nigerian culture, its people and sense of taste, you will need to savor the street foods. Most Nigerian street foods are tasty and gives an unforgettable culinary experience. The top 10 Nigerian street foods to make our list are handy, low-priced and delicious.

Here are the top 10 Nigerian street foods;

# Plantain Chips

These chips are made either with ripe or unripe plantain or banana; they are thinly sliced and placed in the sun for a long time before deep frying it. They taste delicious and crunchy. Plantain chips are a crunchy snack in Nigeria.

# Gala and LaCasera

This is one of the best street food that has preserved the Nigerian race. At every street corner, you will find vendor selling Gala and LaCasera and even on the roads – traffic jam. The combination of this snack and drink is deeply satisfying.

# Boiled or Roasted Corn

This is a season food in Nigeria and whenever it comes out, you will sellers at every street corner selling either boiled or roasted corn or both and you will see Nigerians queuing to buy either one of them. Roasted corn are made by placing the corn directly on a heated coal. One has to be careful not to over roast it, as it will result to a bitter taste. When it is well roasted, the result is an attractive corn with a crunchy heavenly taste. Boiled corn have this sweet taste attached to it especially if it is a recently harvested fresh corn.

# Suya

Suya is a well known Nigerian barbecued fish, chicken or meat. You will find ‘Mai Suya’ – Suya sellers at almost every street angle selling it. Suya is made from raw meat and a mixture of other ingredients. The spice used for the meat is a mixture of groundnut ,ginger and exotic ingredients and the smoke from the hot charcoal used for Suya barbecue gives the meat a unique taste.

# Agege Bread and Ewa Agoyin

Ewa Agoyin is a tasty cooked beans served with spicy stew. Wherever you see Ewa Agoyin sellers, you will see the popular Nigerian bread called Agege Bread. Most Nigerians love eating this food. combination. The beans is boiled till very soft. The spicy stew is achieved by frying grounded dry pepper, onions and other ingredients in a hot palm oil. The taste of this food is deeply fulfilling.

# Roasted Plantain and Groundnut (Boli and Epa)

Boli (roasted plantain) is well known tasty Nigerian street food. In almost every street corner, you will find sellers selling it. The combination of Boli and Epa is heavenly. Boli is made from riped plantain while Epa is done by frying groundnut on hot preheated sand.

#Abacha

This food is known as African Salad and it is a popular snack in Nigeria. Abacha is made with shredded cassava and other ingredients. The shredded cassava is boiled till it is very soft and edible. It is served with garden egg, fresh onions, and fresh Okazi leaves. The taste of this food is very unique. Vendors of Abacha either hawk it on the street or around some market angles.

A few more ,though more popular in the east, Aki na Ukwa, Sliced boiled cassava and Coconut..
