Sony has now officially announced the coming launch of PlayStation Now on the PC alongside a DualShock 4 USB wireless adaptor, first in parts of Europe and “shortly thereafter” in North America

“This will bring a wide selection of PlayStation exclusive titles to Windows PC for the very first time, including entries in the Uncharted, God of War, and Ratchet & Clank franchises, as well as beloved PS3 games like The Last of Us and Journey,” Sony said. “Current subscribers have a new way to access PS Now’s library of over 400 games, and the PC app provides a new way for even more gamers to discover and play the service.”

Sony also announced a new DualShock 4 USB Wireless Adapter, which will enable DualShock 4 controllers to be connected wirelessly to PCs and Macs. The device will sell for $25 and will enable support of all buttons, the analog sticks, touch pad, light bar, motion sensors, vibration, and the headset jack.

The recommended system requirements for PS Now:

Windows 7 (SP1), 8.1 or 10
3.5 GHz Intel Core i3 or 3.8 GHz AMD A10 or faster
300 MB or more; 2 GB or more of RAM
Sound card; USB port
Minimum 5Mbps internet connection

Playstation Now is a subscription service that streams PS games, so it's not really PCMR taking over, if they had actually made ports of the games, then you could have hailed left, right and centre...

undecided
Oh! "Playstation Now". I read that normally as just PlayStation now.

Anyways, life is in stages. And everything is all a process. Microsoft also started with " Games for windows". And b4 we knew it, the xbox store made its way to PC and now we ve xbox exclusive games on PC.
The PlayStation Now is just the first step. DS4 wireless adapter the second step. Maybe next step ll be the Playstation Tomorrow grin And very soon, we'll be rocking PS exclusives on pc and by then, the PCMR would ve well and truly taken over. cheesy

But seriously, who needs a subscription service to stream games when there is youtube?? undecided

Streaming games to play games, not streaming to watch, you'd need constant internet. Games for Windows actually were physical games or soft copies of the games, they were ports of the game. This is basically playing a cloud based game. And folks seem to forget that Xbox & Windows are both owned by Microsoft, with the way Microsoft have been throwing money around they have to make it back somehow. See how they've still been making some 360 games with their Microsoft exclusives.

Oh and DS4 wireless PC setup had already been done by a third party (free software), Sony just finally caught up.

Streaming to play?? That ll be double the bandwidth usage and that's even worse sef. PC gamers are bound to start complaining in the end. And its either Sony makes copies available for downloads or purchase, or they pack up their thing and leave.

Yes. I remember. They were ports that still required a windows(xbox) live account to play. Virtua Tennis 4 and Resident Evil 5 were just two of the windows game i've played. Had to setup offline accounts and profiles just so the games would save. But now, no need for that. Xbox accounts are now fully integrated with Windows 8 & 10. And just coz of that, we now ve xbox exclusives on PC. So its only a matter of time b4 PS exclusives make their way across to PC as well cheesy

They can't keep this up for long. They'll ve to make physical copies available sooner or later. Expect pirates and modders to start cracking the games and making them available to the public. And as such, people dont subscribe to PlayStation Now anymore since they can now get it for free. Sony would then ve to re-evaluate and adjust coz they'll ve no choice.

And still Sony keeps making mo money than Microsoft in the gaming department. Sony should ve ported over to the PC market a long time ago. By now the xbox and Microsoft games wouldn't even be in sight.

Yh. I know. There's been PC support for the DS3 for a while now. Sony just had no choice than to come up with their own wireless adapter.

Lana1, the whole concept of PS Now was to stream & play PS3* games on PS4. Sony are just trying to make more money, instead of just giving us backwards compatibility. If they don't take time Microsoft will just use style to take over - since XO now boasts backwards compatibility. Now, if Sony were smart, they could sell PS Now to the PC crowd (you don't need PS+ to play it), especially to the internet heavy countries (5Mbps is the recommended speed).

*in the future, it will include PS4, PS1, PS2 & PSP games. Hmm...they could turn it into Netflix for games. Pay a flat fee, get an access to a huge library of games. Oh, you either pay by subscription or per game.
