Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos on Monday sacked his finance minister Armando Manuel, the presidency announced, as the country battles an economic crisis caused by sinking oil prices. Armando Manuel No reason was given for the dismissal of the 44-year-old London-educated minister who has held the post for three years.
He has been replaced by Augusto Archer de Sousa Mangueira, 53, who was chairman of the country’s Capital Markets Commission prior to the new appointment. The new minister takes over of struggling economy which has slumped mainly due to the steep drop in crude oil prices.
The country’s currency, the kwanza, has lost more than 60 percent of its value against the dollar since the start of last year. Economic growth in Africa’s leading crude producer, which soared to over 20 percent in 2007, has collapsed to less than two percent. About 40 percent of the population now lives below the poverty line. In June, Angola called off talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) over a possible loan to ease the current troubles.
Dos Santos also removed the minister of agriculture Afonso Pedro Canga and cabinet chief of staff Edeltrudes Maurício Fernandes Gaspar da Costa.

These guys wasted their boom just like Nigeria . unlike Nigeria, you can see some of the effects on the ground like improved infrastructure.
They were busy building cosmetic infrastructure and paying expatriates as much as $300,000 instead of developing their people.

This is how a thinking president acts. You dont sit down and blame dwidling oil prices cos u should know that if your ministers move fast and in right direction things would deffinitly turn around.

But here in Nigeria Buhari is ready to defend his incompetent ministers and hip the blame on past administration. Anyway I wont blame he him; what does he really know about governance and economy?

Osinbajo who should have known better is boxed in a bag. he dare not open his mouth or else, his master‘s corruption dirty will be dusted up.

Nigeria, a country where oil contributes less than 20% to her GDP, shouldnt be blaming dindling oil price to her poor economy. Wrong policies are our problem here.

Central bank governor, minister of agriculture and minister of finance have no business in Nigeria sit of power. The have no plan no vision.

Ur economics analysis is very bad.. .

And ur argument is illogical

The ministers has been there for 3 years... how long has kemi been in office??

The president has been there for over 30 years.. so who should he blame?? Everyone knows his foolish choices brought them there

Only only contribute 20% of our GDP but over 90% of forex earnings... Maybe I need to study more
