Marouane Fellaini has said that if the rest of his Manchester United team-mates played more like him they might not have lost toManchester City on Saturday. The tough-tackling Belgian was arguably Manchester United’s man-of-the-match in his side’s 2-1 defeat to Pep Guardiola’s side at Old Trafford.

However his team-mates didn’t show the same levels of aggression and Fellaini believes that attitude was to blame for Manchester United’s first defeat of the season.

‘The problem was we needed to be more aggressive to win the first and second balls but we didn’t. However, the attitude was better in the second half,’ Fellaini told MUTV.

‘We didn’t have the aggression in the first half, but that doesn’t matter now. We have to focus on the next game and we have to win.’

Fellaini himself couldn’t be blamed for a lack of aggression during the match at Old Trafford. He attempted more tackles than any of his team-mates, intercepted the ball more times than any of his team-mates and won more aerial battles than any other player on the pitch.

The frustrated midfielder added: ‘Everyone is disappointed, which is normal after losing a derby, but this is the fourth game of the season and every team will lose games.

‘We have to focus on the next game now and be ready.

‘The first half was difficult, but we created chances as well and it could have been 2-2 at the end of the half, so I think that is not the problem.’
