The case of Brock Turner — the college student who
was convicted of rape, sentenced to six months in jail and only served three months — ignited a firestorm of protests around the United States and across the globe on social media. People believed that he didn't serve a fair sentence for his crime and called out the U.S. justice system to reevaluate their laws.
Here we'll take a look at how other countries deal with convicted rapists and it's safe to say that there are some severe punishments around the world for
those who sexually violate others.

•North Korea
Giving the power to the victim to kill their rapist, in
North Korea the guilty party faces execution by firing
squad as one of the shooters is the person who was
sexually assaulted.

• The Netherlands
While most people recognize penetration of the
genitals as rape, the Netherlands include forced
kissing as a sexual assault. The guilty party would
face anywhere between 4 to 15 years in jail,
depending on the incident and their age.

•China
If someone is found guilty of sexually violating
another person in China, they are swiftly punished
and sentenced to death. There are times when a
court will rule that the person has their genitals
mutilated.

• Iran
Iran is already known for its serious punishments
against even common, non-violent crimes, so it isn't
surprising that a rapist in this country would face a
public execution by hanging or fire squad. If the
rapist is able to avoid the death penalty, they would
still receive life behind bars or 100 lashes.

• France
People travel to France to enjoy the architecture,
culture, and feeling of romance, but the country does
not joke around when it comes to rape. A person
found guilty of rape can be sentenced to 15 to 30
years in jail, life imprisonment, or jail time with
torture.

• United States
A rapists sentencing varies in the U.S. because there
are both state and federal laws. Rape punishments
are universal in America, so what one state has
under law can differ to the next. However, if the
crime is a federal issue, then the convicted rapist
would spend 30 years behind bars.

• Norway
A rapist in Norway would be locked up for 4 to 15
years, depending on the severity of the crime.

• Afghanistan
Like North Korea, in Afghanistan it can take as quickly
as four days to find a rapist guilty and order them to
be executed by their victim
.
• Russia
A person found guilty of rape would be sentenced
anywhere from 3 to 30 years in prison.

• India
Back in 2013, India passed a Anti-Rape Bill that
increased punishments for those convicted of sexual
assault. At a minimum a rapist would face 14 years in prison and in severe cases they'd be hanged to death.

• Saudi Arabia
Like many other Arab countries, in Saudi Arabia a
convicted rapist is executed within days of the
completion of his trial.

• Egypt
Public hangings are done in Egypt as a warning to the public about consequences of committing crimes.

• Israel
Israel is one of the more lenient countries that
imprisons rapists from 4 to 16 years.

• UAE
The UAE has no tolerance for rape and if one is
convicted, they will be sentenced to death and would
die within 7 days of the trial.

• Greece
In Greece a person convicted of rape would face jail
time. How long that would be is decided on a case by
case basis.

This are some reasons I love Islamic countries, they are always strict in their laws and the penalty there is awesome. Such law in Nigeria would have make sense in Nigeria, but some ladies will just act series of drama just to make it happen to an innocent man.
I remember when I was in the University of Port Harcourt then, a young lady raised an alarm claiming that she was rape when we followed up the whole story we found out that the young man she accused was innocent. Trust guys, they measured it for her likely the way they would have measured for the accuser.

What about the place that concerns us - Nigeria.

I think it's high time our legislators also included death as punishment in our anti-rape laws to curb the increasing bad nd evil trend.

u are absolutely right. I think it has to do with our mentality as a people. There's usually a stigma that goes with rape victims in the society. So majority of the victims will prefer to remain quiet.
Moreover, our police force is nothing to write home abt. The policemen nd women are usually quick to mock, judge nd disgrace the victims with the utterances.
U hear words like; "see dress wey u dey wear, why them no go rape u"

North Korea all the way. The victim can nominate anybody to do the deed for her, if she can not handle it. Better still, we can adopt public castration
