Although high alcohol consumption is linked to cancer, a moderate amount of red wine (two to three glasses a week) is thought to have positive effects because of its high quantity of antioxidant polyphenols, especially resveratrol, which is soluble in alcohol.


Drinking red wine in moderation has also been linked to a lower rate of prostate cancer.
