Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s award winning novel, Half Of A Yellow Sun, has been picked up to become a film with the production team behind “The Last King of Scotland”, reports Jamati. (FINALLY!)

It’s always great to see Nigerian literature being picked up by the mass media. I’m definitely looking forward to this film from the outcome to the film production’s actor picks…and hopefully you are too excited about this tidbit.
Half Of A Yellow Sun won a Orange Prize for Fiction in 2007 and the young British-American author was named by ESSENCE as a honorable African.

Half of a Yellow Sun is set in Nigeria during the 1960s, at a time of the vicious Nigeria- Biafra war in which more than a million people died and thousands were massacred in cold blood.

This novel is about Africa, about moral responsibility, the end of colonialism, ethnic allegiances, class and race, and about how love can complicate all these things.

I hope it happens so my generation would see what our perentes experienced during the Biafran war. I've read the book a couple of times and it just amazes me what Igbos went through.

It seems some1 is gonna be swimming in dough just like J.k Rawlings (harry potter). Just dat it isn't in series/parts. She could do hers like J.K Rawlings who insisted that all actors must be british. Wat do u think.

Wow am so happy! I read the book just about when it was published.i remember telling a friend-who works with farafina i wouldnt be suprised if its turned into a screenplay.way to go chimamanda!

i am happy for chimamanda, great to see a literary work being appreciated duely. i hope they at least feature a great nigerian talent/actor. someone that has soul that can adequately relate to nigeria. i guess its not just a muscle-man the book needs, like djimon hounsou in blood diamond. but a good doze of emotion, muscle-man is a side attraction

Good news i suppose. Although i haven't read the book, it's obviously a very good one. I just hop the producer would adapt the novel into a movie well

enough, so that some crucial parts of the story shall not be lost in the process. The choice of actors to be used is very important, the producer should

beware of funny Nollywood stars that are not original, do not have a good diction, and are nothing but Opportunists in the business.

Congratulations Chimamanda- the Chinua Achebe of her generation.

Hell no, May be (and a big one would be Sophie Okonedo) but the rest would be from Hollywood they might not be house-hold names but definitely from Hollywood or Pinewood in England,

If you look at "Tears of the sun" had hollywood actors/actress as the major cast no Nigerian unless if they are in the background who would seen for a minute or two.

I understand,  most if not all actors and movie stars act the same way, speak the same way, pose the same way in all of their movies which is a problem,

You still need an African with the accent[not a fake accent] who can pull off many roles in the movie. I know Don Cheadle and Forest Whittaker can pull it off but it wouldn't hurt to use Olu Jacobs.
