Nigeria as always been a good farming land, even when we got distracted by Oil, Today we are still returning to Agriculture, because; Nigeria population is ever growing and increasing daily, so there is a need for continual food production in order to meet up with the fast growing population and food demands.

Even in a recession time, the Food and Agricultural industry still blossom, because it is food that people will eat before they start thinking of luxury and expensive lifestyle.

Today i have chosen 10 major profitable agricultural business ventures in Nigeria;

1. Poultry farming : Poultry business is a killer right now in the Nigeria of today, especially in this season that we are approaching festive period (Christmas and New year) You can start raising some broilers ad sell them, for instance, if you have 50,000 broilers and you sell them for #5,000 each that will be 250,000,000 you are going to be making, and it takes only 3months to raise broilers from day old to full maturity, so you can see that you are in for a big deal?

2. Fish Farming : This is another big goldmine in Nigeria farming industry, livestock farming ventures as always been a very profitable, one beautiful thing about fish farming is that, you really don't need a festive period before you can make good money with it, with the availability of eateries, restaurants, hotels and others around today, you can make your own money all thru out the year selling to this people.

3. Grasscutter Farming: If you are living in the village, and you are still complaining of been broke, then you are so blind, grasscutter colony (4females and one male) goes for 65, and 70,000 and grasscutter majorly feeds on "Grass"and naturally sourced food, so with zero spending on feeding, you can still make good money in grasscutter farming

4. Yam Farming : If you have a land currently with no building, rain is still falling, why not put up some bed and ridges and cultivate yam, with massive cultivation on hectares of land, you can make millions selling yam tubers both locally and internationally, even students in school are making a whole lot of money, by employing labourers that will do the job, harvest it and they sell it off and make their money!

5. Quail Farming: This is one health and wealth livestock, the demand for quail grew when we began to have much health benefits of quail been revealed, Quail does not grow too big, the major income in the business is the "Quail Egg"due to the super health benefits that surrounds it.

6. Plantain Plantation Business: There are a whole lot of benefits both Locally and industrially that are derived from Plantain, this as been the reason why there as been major demand for it. Wise farmers are beginning to cultivate lots of plantain farms all around on lands that are not presently been used, you can also buy hectares of land to cultivate, the last time i visit lagos state to sell a truck of plantain, we didn't take up to 3hours before it was off loaded and we made a good income from it, plantain is a commodity with a ready market.

7. Pig Farming: Pig is yet another goldmine, am glad to let you know most commercial pig farms in Nigeria with thousands of pig now deliver to buyers both in Nigeria and outside the country, from my years of experience, major demands for pig comes from Lagos and south-eastern parts of Nigeria, with a gestation period of (3months, 3weeks and 3days) you can have your pig deliver up to 15 piglets, so the production rate is high and fast and their growth is amazing with good feed formulation, your pigs are bouncing and your business is growing!!!

8. Cattle Farming: This is the big-men business, cattle farming is very profitable not just in nigeria but in the world, considering the amount of what can be derived from it, the blood-meal, bone-meal, milk, skin, wool, and lots more, Most Agricultural and Food industries depends largely on cattle, so you have a market already waiting for it also, and one cow can go for 150,000 or more, even with the economic recession, most Nigerians today buys Cow majorly for their ceremony like wedding, and so on.

9. Water melon: This is quite seasonal but highly profitable, you spend a very low amount to start water melon since its been planted and with adequate monitoring, good location good land, fertilizer, it doesn't necessarily need rainfall, but god hydrated soil, most Nigerian soils do well to cultivate water melon, it is an hot cake in the market, apart from the people that consumes it raw, others processing in food and restuarant business also requires Water melon as a raw material.

10. Cashew Nuts: Now this a million naira business, not every farmer knows about this, most of the time people just eat the cashew and throw away the nut at the head region, but that is actually where the money lies!

Cashew nut Fruits (the hard part of the cashew)is used in processing cashew nut'which is like a cashew cake and it is also considered to be more nutritious than the common ground nut, there are many industry in Lagos and other parts of Nigeria that buys tonnes of Cashew nut, in 30 load of tricks and more, as they are majorly used to process food items.

There are many lands in regions like Osun, Ogbomosho, Ibadan and others with only Cashew nut been planted o them and the owners comes when it as start dropping fruits to harvest just the nut, sundry them, pack them in bags and sell them out industries that majorly utilize them as raw material.

There is huge money in Cashew nut business, i wish those that as lots of cashew trees planted around them, could know this truth, they would have maximize the advantages that nature offers in that aspect.

Most of agricultural farming just require a good land for site location, knowledge (which can be gotten by consultancy to experts, specialists and farmers). There are more potential for agricultural business in Nigeria both now and in the future, there is no other better time to invest into Farming business order than now.
