Julietcutie: even if you IMPORT the weavon/ brazillian hair.... its still not a very good biz due to the current ONgoing recession. USE the 300k to do more profiting businesses with less stress then go into transportation business or supplies BUT NOT HAIR... many ladies are beginning to leave their hair natural due to HIGH cost of weavon and stuff... 1 Like 1 Share |

Yeah I agree with the chap. The country is in a recession now and people aren't exactly lining up to purchase hair extensions. (I may be wrong though). Unless you have a ready market whereby people have assured you they need it, then you may end with products that keep smiling at you in your shop while you're waiting for them to be sold. Don't be in a hurry to invest your capital. Do your homework well otherwise you'll be throwing away your money. All the best. |

my own little contribution to this ,JULIET if you want to start human hair biz is not a bad idea, this is a festive season and no matter how bad the economy is ladies must want to look good but start very small and watch it grow and more so don't forget to pray to God to bless your hustle! good luck 2 Likes |

Buying and selling of land is a cool biz but it takes time and where will you see land of 300k these days. That transport biz idea is also a good idea. Transportation remains a problem everywhere. You can buy a keke and get a driver. You both can agree an amount he'll be bringing every sunday. Most of my friends that are into this biz agree 20k every sunday. You dont need to pay the driver because he keeps the rest. Buying and selling of clothes or makeup kit and stuff like that is also cool if you are in a school environment. Goodluck sweet |

Julietcutie: If I had such capital now, trust me I will be making extra 300k with it on a monthly basis. I have a friend that goes to Yaba in Lagos to buy bales of fairly used clothes and then selections of shoes and bags. She makes sure she buys first grade according to her. When she buys the bales, she has two small girls she employed that help her wash them, iron and fold them properly, then she will put them inside Ghana must go bags, spray a nice perfume or deodorant inside and close in up for a day. By the time she starts bring them out to sell, you see people rushing it. You can try this business as well and I believe you will be making more money than what you will make from weavon business. 3 Likes |

Ooooh.... why now? The op did not ask your opinion on the business she has decided to start, she asked how she can go about it. Why discourage her? Nobody is God. Please anyone with useful info on how to start a weave business should help her out. @ missjulietcutie...it is a good business o. Women and fashion as well as good hair cannot be separated, recession or not. Just start reasonably with nice affordable weaves. I think, you can also Google some naija made hair companies to see if they can distribute to you e.g expressions etc |

Hi Juliet... I just came across your thread and I thought to add my own little advice. I'm not one to talk much on other threads, but my dear friend, Hair business is good business. For a start, I'll advice you to get hairs worth a 100k. Please go for 5A and 6A hairs only for now. They are the not too expensive hairs. You'll make good profit. Do not use the whole 300k for the business as you need to see the turnout to know if the business will be favourable to you. Also you don't need a shop for now because getting a shop especially if you're in Lagos is double expenses. If You really want to excel in the business then I'll advice you to use the online platform first. Make adverts using nairaland, facebook, Jiji, Olx, instagram etc be very honest in your doings and the sky will be your starting point. When you have orders, do your deliveries on time, this will make you have a good customer base. In all I wish you the best... #mytwocents 1 Like |

[quote author=Julietcutie post=50071347]Good Morning all please I would like to start a business of selling hair attachment and extensions /weavon but I don't know the basics... I intend using a capital of 300k please just give me an advise is there much gain in the business, should my capital be bigger... do I need to rent a shop e. t. c please anyone or those in to the business help your fellow nairalander... Don't let anyone discourage you on your choice of business. Yes we are in recession but ladies still make hair, use attachment and extensions. It's easier to maintain than natural hair. Now to your question. Do you intend to have a shop or sell out of your bag? If you intend to have a shop then you need a little more money considering you will need to pay rent, renovate, and buy products. I think it's better to have a good amount of extensions and attachments as you start up. If you are selling out of your bag then you need to figure out who is your target audience and how to reach them. I would prefer you have a shop preferably near a bus top, busy area, or in the market. Avoid street shops unless it's a busy street with lots of good traffic because patronage may be limited to those who frequently pass the street. Next start with common and high grade synthetic. Don't go into human hair yet until you start getting orders. For this you can partner with suppliers to give you some stuff on part payment. On the gain, Find out where to get your product at the cheapest rate, do a survey of how much it's sold in other shops and bring down your price a little so you can make profit but also offer your customers a good bargain. It's a business that can yield good profit if you get them at a good price. I also suggest you do a survey on what type of extensions ladies but most, what hair styles are in vogue, best extensions in the market and other information that will allow you advice your customers. Hope this helps. 2 Likes |
