Do Female Artiste Have Future In Naija Music Industry? (The Tale Of YBNL Princess)
Vision is perhaps our greatest strength, it has kept many of us alive to the power and continuity of thought throughout our living years.

This same vision even makes us peer into the later future and lends us idea about what we didn’t know. But before we move on, hold on to the fact that the aforementioned words: vision, continuity and future are three different words that works dependently together.

Nigeria music industry is arguably the best growing music industry in Africa with lots of dominating stars from the country ahead all others from the continent. We have heard a whole lot of sweet music from Uganda, Ghana. South Africa and all other countries but no country does it better like our own Naija.

As perfect as the music scheme is in Nigeria the words contemplated above needs serious nurturing and should be used for the sake of the feminine deficiency battling thy industry. While we move on, let us ask ourselves this mind disturbing question? ‘What is wrong with the female musician’s in Nigeria? We have heard about Sasha P, Essence, Weird MC and many other great singers that gave us cute music sensations which made us proud back then, where are they? The answer should be puzzling in our minds for another day as we move go the subject of the day.

YBNL Princess: a talented singer and songwriter, an extraordinary guitarist who happens to be the newest signee of one of the greatest record label in the Naija music industry. Flash back to the moment of this lady, the whole Africa shook when the label boss informed the world he was ready to unveil the first ever female artiste in the label, many were joyous of this great news for different reasons but the sole reason for the happiness of my face is the once said confession of Olamide himself saying he was waiting to discover a female that’s going to give and maintain everlasting reign before he could actually sign such lady.

Alas, he discovered the African “Celine Dion” is my utmost reason for the joyful mood, YBNL Princess got thousands of fans even before the label announce and showcase her face to the world, the imaginary IG account of her mentioned by the label boss got thousands of followers within 24hrs which gave us the sense of reception from the music fans worldwide. She was unveiled and gave us that melodious track which didn’t disappoint the YBNL fans.

5 months later, everything seems confusing to the masses, Temmy Ovwassa is mute and silent all over the channels, we understand what happened to Chinko Ekun of YBNL, who forced us to agree his Law ambition is the reason for his failing relevance in the industry.

Princess of YBNL is although a student also but 5 months is believed to be too broad for a new singer who needs promotion and more recognition to stay float ahead. On many occasions, we have witnessed artistes undergoing master’s degree dropping hit songs let alone a mere undergraduate. Education is important but stop it if it would ruin your career or oops, perhaps, face and finish the education before chasing the career.

I have to be sorry for being judgmental but the continuous success for our dear YBNL princess is our concern. The whole crew might know better but fans deserve a little bit of info also. Let’s not forget YBNL just released a news they are going for a concert abroad, I looked widely like a hungry animal, found no one like Temmy or Princess. My mind still hope she is still part of YBNL but wait, this is how it started with Chinko till we heard a news lately of his departure from this same label.

YBNL Princess or prince, my question remains thus: What is wrong with our female artistes in Nigeria? We have been keeping mute on failed female singers. We could raise a solid awareness on this as it is written deep down the heart of the number 1 YBNL fan.

I dont think her studies is the problem here because her school lautech is on strike...

Maybe she is a singer and not a songwriter, as in she doesn't have any new work to put out coz she doesn't have the capacity to write.
