Businessman and Ondo governorship aspirant, Jimoh Ibrahim, has warned that the current economic recession facing Nigeria may last for another 20 years if the global oil price continues in its downward trend.
Mr. Ibrahim gave the warning on Thursday at the launch of the book, Worshipper In the Temple of Justice, organised in honour of emeritus professor of law, David Ijalaye, at the Oduduwa Hall of the Obafemi Awolowo University.
“With the current crude oil prices and current situation of the country, except there is a miracle that will chance the situation, we may be experiencing this recession for 20 years,” he said.
“Our Naira has lost its value and this is the worst recession I have seen in many years and nothing seems to be happening.”
Mr. Ibrahim recommended that Nigeria adopts the economic model of Iran in order to record meaningful development.
On the recent arrest of judges by the State Security Services, he noted that the development could whittle investor confidence.
“In a case where a judge is found with over N54 million and that it was found under his bed, no one would want to do business with you,” he said.
“It is very bad and has got so bad, if the Judiciary cannot be trusted so what are we saying.”

Before that 20 years Nigeria's recession shall last, many new countries that shall soon emerge from Nigeria must have joined the league of prosperous countries without recession.

Except Jonathan government which took Nigeria to surpass South Africa as Africa's fastest growing Economy, those other goups that have ruled Nigeria all these years must bear the recession in Nigeria for that twenty years.

They can't politically exempt some groups from ruling Nigeria, but expect them to bear the burden of their misrule that brought recession.

The richest countries in the world have no crude oil. It's foolish to attribute Nigeria's recession to dwindling oil revenues.
Misrule of Nigeria through a most dysfunctional governance system is responsible for Nigeria's recession. The political structure and governance system enrich politicians, mostly the political class in northern Nigeria.

Northern Nigeria supported by some elements in the Southwest reject political restructuring. Let them bear the brunt of the recession as the east leaves Nigeria.

Jimoh Ibrahim not everyone is a bad manager as you are. Even if Buhari and his mediocre economic team fail to get it right, someone else will.

If only you saw this projections for some of your business ventures like Air Nigeria, Nicom Hilton and a host of other ones you have badly managed, you won't be a blackguard where the likes of your colleagues like dangote, otedola, Samad, otudeko, Adenuga are talking

We are in recession not necessarily because of oil drop but because of near zero productivity. If we weren't importation experts then by now we should be exporting goods to earn a decent level of forex cash. Stop pointing finger at one region just because they buy imported goods imported by mostly others.

How much was generated under GEJ watch? How much please? And please don't tell me about oil earning because that wasn't influenced by GEJ. If Buhari was to follow GEJ borrowing pattern Don't you think we would be growing further on debt?

Shallow thinking... Would it still last if Nigeria takes diversification efforts serious for the next five years?

Jimoh is a chronic debtor...both to staff and banks, he's part of those sabotaging our economy.
