We all come in contact with various infections of some sort or another in one way or the other daily, though not all this infections end up manifesting as our immune system naturally acts against this infections though due to some factors this infections still break into our body. And the question on most people mind is how do infection causing pathogens gets into the body? This article is to help you understand the four major ways through which infections get into your body as knowing this can help you protect yourself in future.

Respiratory Tract: Upper respiratory infection is another name for common cold and this occurs when one of 200 cold causing viruses is breathed into your body and finds its way into your respiratory tract and lungs. Influenza, coughs, and the other airborne infections are contracted through the respiratory tract. Rhino-viruses is the most common of all viruses that can lead to colds.

Skin Breakage: Our skin performs the function of also acting as a barrier against infection protecting us day in day out from a lot of illness. Though, if you have been bitten by a bug, if you have a scratch or wounds by needles, then the germs which our skin is suppose to naturally keep out would find it's way to enter our bloodstream and begin to harm us in numerous ways. In addition to this, scrapes, cuts, or sores in the mucous membrane that lines your nose or mouth can also provide access for infections to enter your body.

Cellulitis is a potentially dangerous but common skin infection which occurs when bacteria gets into your body through a burn, bruise, wound or surgical incision. When this occurs your skin will become red, the affected area would be inflamed and it is also painful, at times you may experience fever, fatigue or chills. Using Antibiotics to treat Cellulitis in the early stages works well. Impetigo is another common skin infection which is usually caused by staph or strep bacteria, this infection is highly contagious. Impetigo is most common in children and does rarely affect adults.

Digestive Tracts: When you eat food, or drinks that are infected with bacteria or a virus they can end up infecting your stomach or bowels. Most of us must have experienced a stomach upset at one point in our life, this upset can at times reveals itself in the form of diarrhea which can also include vomiting on rare occasions. A common bacterial which is responsible for this is gastroenteritis, which is otherwise known as food poisoning. This occurs if you eat meat or poultry proceeds that have been in contact with bacteria before eating.

Urinary and Reproductive system: You can get pathogens in your body through the urinary system, like urinary tract infection, or sexually transmitted diseases.The infectious may be localized or go into your blood stream. Example most sexually transmitted diseases infects the genitals, while infections like HIV/AIDS virus, is being carried in bodily fluids thus affecting the whole body and can be further transmitted through the saliva, blood and seminal fluid.
