Some people live their whole lives without any big health issues while others develop severe, life-threatening diseases that ultimately causes their death, sometimes we can't even treat these sicknesses and in some cases we find out about them too late.

A healthy lifestyle can help prevent or reduce the risk of many health problems, there is no doubt about that because there are many factors in the environment and our lives, which contribute in some way in deteriorating out health and other factors which contribute in managing or improving our health, depending on how you live your life, it will impact how healthy you are and will be and also have an effect on your longevity.

The main factor that you will often hear about when it comes to the negative effects of lifestyle and environment on the human health will probably be radicals or free radicals. Sunlight, pollution, sickness and stress, eating habits, radiation, medication, our very metabolism and many other things can and do cause radicals in the human body on a daily basis, at least if you are exposed to them. Radicals are something that your body has naturally because of the metabolism which I mentioned in there somewhere. They are by-products of energy production or ATP (adenosine triphosphate) production in the human body and they are unpaired and reactive electrons which attack our cells.

They cause us to age and they contribute to health issues, they are behind a wide variety of health problems like blindness, cancer, Alzheimer's and many others. They can be dealt with by using antioxidants which the body can naturally make, but it can't make enough to compensate for when you are exposed to multiple other factors that produce radicals in your body aside from the metabolism, these cause chain reactions and possibly oxidative stress.

Every medic out there will tell you to stay away from things that produce more radicals in your body, like smoking, because you're putting your health at risk of many potential problems, but there are also supplements and of course antioxidants can be found in fruits and vegetables abundantly so by eating such foods you help your body deal with harmful radicals.
