National Youth Tourism Essay Competition 2016 Opens by Adesinaayo: 3:50pm On Nov 02, 2016
• As Submission Of Essays Ends 9th Of December.
Registration and submission of essays in the much anticipated National Youth Tourism Essay Competition, organised by Desigo Tourism Development and Facility Management Company Limited have started. The competition which will close by Friday, 9th of December 2016 has been declared open on Monday, 31st of October 2016.
Speaking on the development, the CEO of the company, Abigail Olagbaye said the participants are encouraged to seize the occasion to make the best use of the opportunities that abound in Nigeria’s tourism industry.
According her, the six weeks competition period is going to be one of the most exciting days in the Nigerian tourism industry, as the teeming Nigerian youths will have unprecedented opportunities to pen their ideas and understandings of the industry
“The essay competition is targeted at stimulating Nigerian youths towards tourism, encourage their participation in every discourse that would guarantee tourism development and inculcate in them, values that will ensure its sustainability. In these six weeks, Nigerian youths from all the six geopolitical zones of the country will have the unique opportunity to write on Nigerian tourism industry”. She stated.
Meanwhile, the submission of essays that opened on Monday 31st October will run concurrently with registration of participants till Friday, December 9th 2016. Interested youths are urged to visit designated site to register their participation and submit their essays during this period, free of charge.
The national essay competition which is initiated under the Youth Tourism Connect is of two categories, junior and senior; while the junior category from age of 11 to 18 years will write on the topic, “citing major tourist attractions and products in your, use one major attraction to discuss the role of internet/ ICT in developing tourism in Nigeria”, their senior counterparts will write on the topic- “citing major tourist attractions and products in your state, use one major attraction to discuss the comparative advantage of Nigeria’s tourism and how it can engineer economic boost for national development”.
More so, there are great prizes that will connect the winners to tourist destinations to be won in the competition. These include, Local travel + (6 months) Internet enabled IPad + 200,000, Local Travel + (3 months) Internet enabled IPad + 100,000 and Local Travel + (1 month) Internet enabled Ipad + 50,000 for first, second and third winner respectively in the junior category.
In the senior category, the first winner will be entitled to, Local travel + (6 months) Internet enabled IPad + 500,000, while the second and third winner will have Local Travel + (3 months) Internet enabled IPad + 100,000 and Local Travel + (1 month) Internet enabled Ipad + 50,000 respectively.
